About Us
The Octowear Team is comprised of researchers from the Bio-Inspired Robotics and Design Laboratory (BRD Lab) at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD).
Our Story
Having created the world's first multi-modal soft gripper for the robotics industry, the team used their expertise and knowledge in silicone and suction technology to create a new patented suction technology specifically for the skin. Using this technology, OctoTape, a silicone suction tape, was created to provide adhesion and secure medical wearables as an alternative to regular tape.
It provides longer holding strength, less removal pain, and fewer allergic reactions due to the hypoallergenic qualities of silicone. We hope to contribute this new technology to the healthcare sector, improving the quality of healthcare and the experience of patients.
